Vintage English Tanner Krolle & Co. Ltd. for Harrods Leather Gladstone Bag
Some luggage suggests travel. This one suggests you have somewhere worth going.
Made in England in the 1970s by Tanner Krolle & Co. Ltd. for Harrods, this magnificent leather Gladstone bag belongs to an era when a weekend away required proper luggage and, preferably, a decent motorcar. Two substantial leather straps with brass buckles encircle the bag, while leather-wrapped handles, a brass front lock, and twin flip locks keep everything reassuringly contained. Inside, two generous pockets close with leather snap fasteners, leaving ample room for the requirements of a very long weekend.
Gladstone bags of this sort traditionally accompanied the sporting set into the field, packed with the necessities of the hunt. This one seems far too civilized for mud and pheasants. We suggest somewhere with a good cellar instead. A country house. Three nights away. Or a fancy-ass picnic where someone remembered the silver.
The key is missing. The personality most certainly is not.
