Rather Large Round Framed Mirror

Rather Large Round Framed Mirror
There is something particularly satisfying about a circle—especially when it is given this much presence. This large vintage mirror is framed in pine with an unusually deep profile, transforming a simple round form into something almost architectural.
The construction is straightforward, even a little elemental: warm wood, honest joinery, glass. But it is the exaggerated depth of the frame that changes everything. Seen straight on, the silhouette is wonderfully restrained; from the side, the substantial pine surround reveals itself, giving the mirror the weight and dimension of a found architectural object. Time has softened the wood, leaving behind the subtle variations in tone and surface that new timber spends decades trying to acquire.
Large round mirrors have an innate graphic quality, but this one avoids feeling polished or decorative. It is handsome, substantial, and quietly sculptural—the sort of object whose simplicity is precisely what makes it so good.
