Function first. Beauty followed.
This late 19th century American ship’s oil lantern was built for visibility in unforgiving conditions, fitted with a 360 degree Fresnel lens designed to throw light farther and clearer across dark water. Manufactured by the Frank Morrison Company of Cleveland, Ohio, it carries the quiet authority of industrial precision and maritime purpose.
We have given it a second life without dulling its character. Newly electrified, it now glows from within by way of a black silk wrapped cord fitted with a dimmer, allowing you to shift from beacon to mood lighting with a simple turn. A custom base, finished to match the existing patina, anchors the lantern while letting the original form remain the star.
The result is chic, playful, and unexpectedly versatile. It works on a console, a desk, a bedside table, anywhere you want light with a point of view. History, utility, and style share the same small footprint.
