At the turn of the twentieth century, east coast industrialists escaped the cities for the solitude of the Adirondacks, where the finest furniture wasn't carved from mahogany but coaxed from living willow. Green saplings were carefully bent by hand into graceful arches before they dried, creating furniture that felt as though it had grown rather than been built.
Found in Minnesota, this charming pair of tables carries that tradition beautifully. The rhythmic framework of bent willow gives the bases an almost architectural presence, while square tops and slatted shelves keep the design grounded in honest utility.
